Hi everyone,
I bout a HIS Radeon 4850 graphics card but I need to upgrade my PSU before I run it in my computer. I have a very tight budget right now so I wanted to know if this power supply would be capable of running this card: Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 460W Power Supply (RS-460-PMSR-A3). Link: http://www.coolermaster.com/produc [...] il&id=3721
My Comp Specs are as follows:
Amd Athlon X2 4600+
320G Seagate Hard Drive
Dual Layer DVD Drive
ATi Radeon HD 4850
4x 1G DDR2 Ram
I am hoping this power supply will fit my needs as this is the power supply I am being limited to let me know please. Thanks in advance.
It might. The 4850 uses only 110W at max, so you can get away with a fairly small power supply. In fact, I'm running a 4850 with my Ultra X2 550W which has identical 12V rail amperage, so assuming CM isn't a worse manufacturer than Ultra (which would be hard at least compared to Ultra's X2 line) you should be fine.

It might work. That PSU is actually a 430watt PSU with a 460w in it's name. 4850 maker Sapphire recommends a 450W minimum PSU. Since you don't have extra hard disk, optical drives and other stuff you can probably sneak by on that PSU.
Here is a review of that PSU: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/550/9
But even if it is actually 430W shouldn't it still work according to this http://www.tomshardware.com/review [...] 7-20.html. This says that on full load a system with 4850 uses 251 watts on full load. Their test system is stronger than mine so should I be fine? Thanks for the previous comments.
