Vista won't boot??

Hi guys, I recently decided to reformat my Gateway Laptop.

So, I deleted the partition and created a new one just like always.

I inserted my vista home basic disc, and the installation completed just fine.

But when it restarts, it gets stuck at the boot screen, it doesn't boot into vista or anything.

it just says "Press any key to Boot CD..." and then doesn't do anything.
I remove the disk and it just stays black with a blinking "_".

I've re installed various times, I tried another version of windows vista.
I also installed windows XP and it didn't give me that problem.


Any ideas?

This happened to me once, but when I re-installed vista, I did the reformat of the HDD and it installed fine with no issues the second time.
