Windows will not start

Hello,
My windows xp will not open Iget the xp logo and then a notice saying a recent hardware or software may have caused this. have tried every mode on the screen but it just keeps repeating. I have even tried reloading window intalation disc but nnothing happens apart from it repeating xp logo and the mode page

Try booting with 1 RAM chip at a time, and make sure it's connected firmly.
