Hi,
I have a prob with gpedit.msc in my home edition XP. I restrict the hard drive accessing n viewing of hard drives by using gpedit.msc including C drive. Before it was working well whenever i need i was changing the accessing preferences using gpedit.msc in run. But now i don know wat happened, m not able use gpedit.msc in run, if i use i'll get ur group policy has been modified contact administrator but all other commands such as regedit.exe etc r working fine in run. And by using regedit.exe i check the default value of .msc but it is showing nothing. So please tel me how to come out this prob means accesing hard drives without installing new OS.

Microsoft support should be able to provide you with the correct value, though you can also try using system restore to go to an earlier point and restore your registry.

Not sure if this will work either, but you could try building a GP edit console yourself...

Type "mmc" at Start -> Run
Click "File -> Add/Remove Snap-Ins"
Add the "Group Policy Object" snap-in.
