Hello,
my laptop was wiped clean. no boot drive no nothing. tried to reset to factory setting. nothing works

factory recovery without any discs only works if the recovery partition on the hard drive is intact. Obviously, if the hard drive has been wiped, that won't work.

If you didn't make a set of recovery discs when the laptop was working okay, you will have to contact the manufacturer and ask them if they can supply you with recovery discs for that model.

Have a look on their website which serves your region, for contact details, and some manufacturer's have a link to order recovery media on their website.

You will have to pay for the recovery discs. The price varies by manufacturer, but it's around £30 or so (UK Sterling). That's what I had to pay Toshiba when I bought a used laptop last year that the previous owner had messed up (previous owner had installed an unsupported version of Windows on it, then evidently had no clue how to sort it out. Working like a charm now)
