Hey guys, i've been looking more into pc parts and i've realized i can get a better deal. So i've looked into this. Is this any good?

Quote :

Video Card XFX GeForce 9800 GTX $310.00
Motherboard Asus P5N-T Deluxe Motherboard $317.00
Cpu 2.44 GHZ quad core $281.00
Ram Corsair Dual Channel XMS2 4096MB PC8500 $140.00
Audio $0.00
HardDrive Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 16MB SATA $80.00
CD/DVD Sony DRU190A 20X DVD $30.00
Case Ultra Black Aluminus ATX Mid-Tower Casew/ clear side $86.00

Power Supply PC Power & Cooling / Silencer / 610-Watt / PCI-E $131.00
CyberPower 2200 Joules Surge Suppressor $31.00
Mouse/Key $40.00

Total $1,675.80

Whats better a 9800 GTX 512mb-around 70GB/sec Memory Bandwidth

or

sli (two) 8800 GT Video Card - 512MB DDR3 57.6GB/sec Memory Bandwidth so total 115.2 gb/s mem bandwidth..

Which one is better? or Future proof?

You can't add together memory bandwidth that way, but still, 2 8800gt will outperform a single 9800gtx, at any resolution, by a very large margin.

Yeah, but i might still go with the 9800 gtx and later on ill add another... would that be any good?

Also im thinking of a 200$ mobo instead of 300$ ... my mobos too expensive... but what do you think?

No! SLI later is a terrible option. It is one of the worst upgrade paths you can find yourself on.

SLI is now or never. You don't even need SLI unless you game at resolutions of 1920x1200 or above anyway.

nVidia's Intel chipsets are not very good at all. They are bug ridden and generally best avoided.

You are going to pay $317 (Canadian I guess) for that motherboard which is really a waste.

Look at the superior P45 Intel chipset instead. Look at two motherboards:

MSI Neo-F
Asus P5Q Pro

I can't find Asus P5Q Pro or the other one at tigerdirect.ca... can you give me a link?

Reply to mehrdad99

hehe I was right about Canada. I am from ON :D

Are you open to other merchants too? TigerDirect really leaves a bad taste in my mouth as they have some pretty dishonest business practices.

Looks like Tiger does not stock it anyway.

Motherboard has on board 7.1 audio. No need for a sound card.

Ah... im not going sli (for ati cards... meaning crossfire)... so anything else?

Reply to mehrdad99

A little flashier with a bit better chipset cooling, but I don't think much else

Sli is a waste , The drivers are never supported and in most games you wont see the benefits, Wait a while for the ati4*** and the nvidia latest gpu which will make sli/crossfire redundant.

cheers

I just don't understand the SLi hate on this board. I can tell you from MY own experience that it does work.

My 2x9600GT was nearly as fast as my single 8800GTX.

The reason why you should Sli, Xfire now, is because of just that: later. You'll end up waiting, and in the mean time you are not taking advantage of that Sli or Xfire board you paid for. If you're just wasting time waiting for later, then why not just pick up a single PCIe mobo and spend money on a very fast video card.

Right now the best bang for the buck is 2 HD4850 in Xfire. As fast a a single GTX280, at nearly %40 the cost of a GTX280.

The P5Q-E has crossfire.

You really should not run crossfire on p45. Apparently, even 4850 is bottlenecked by pcie2.0x8 in crossfire on p45, compared to pcie2.0x16 on x38/x48. 4870 should fare worse. It wasn't a problem on older 3000s cards, but I guess the 4000s finally reached that limit.

Yes, on single card there should be no difference.
