I currently have a dell Optiplex 320 computer running xp sp3. I would like to add a 2nd hard drive (500 gig)for storage only. I have a second sata drive bay available. The question I have is is there a limitation on the size of the drive I can install.

Shouldn't be. All modern computers can handle the large drives.

there tend to be a few compatability issues with drives over 1TB but not many, always best to check company documentation for and known issues when purchasing 1.5 or 2TB drives. 1TB and below should not give you any issues.
