I have a Q6600 I am thinking of overclocking to ~3ghz.. Currently, it has a Thermaltake Golden Orb II cooler. Will the Golden Orb cut it, and what should I be looking for if not? NCIX has this entry water cooling kit for cheap http://www.ncix.com/products/index [...] omoid=1018 any thoughts?

Most likely not, the Thermaltake Orb is a low profile cooler from what I've seen on the gallery pictures. You can probably get a Scythe Mugen 2 or a XIGMATEK S1283.

If you are only going to 3.0 GHz., what you have is fine.
