Hi all. Need some advice. I'm upgrading my GPU from an NVidia 7900 GT to an ATI HD2900XT and have some worries about my PSU. I'm currently running a 400W PSU with no 6bit connectors and I know the new GPU requires at least 2 6bit connectors and ideally one 6bit and one 8bit.
Now I'm wondering if the card will be able to run at all on a 400w PSU if I simply use 4bit to 6bit adapters. If so, would you recommend it? My other option is to upgrade my PSU to something like a 600W that comes with the 6bit connectors already and won't battle with the load. I hear that the GPU is very power-hungry (ATI recommends 550W) but usually the companies exaggerate these figures to cover themselves. Anyway, what plan of action would you recommend? And if the PSU swap is necessary could you please advise on a cost-effective PSU that will cover all my bases.
Thanks in advance!
