Looking for people who have played UO to tell me their opinion of how it
compares to SWG. Thinking of coming to SWG but wanna know a little more
about it first. Strats looks pretty cool on it, as well as the graphics.
Is it worth it to come to SWG?

I played UO waaaaaaay back when. SWG is decidedly different that UO in so
many ways. First you have a true first person view as opposed to UO's third
person view. SWG is true 3-D graphics where as UO did a wonderful job but
things were not necessarily 3-D rendered.

In SWG the crafting is much more complex than in UO. Skills and professions
are also more complex in SWG. PK'ing in SWG is handled much better, IMHO,
than in UO. If you never want to go PvP you can do that in SWG. In UO you
had to stay in town to avoid getting PK'd.

On the other hand you could fight NPCs and monsters to get good loot, not so
in SWG. Someone has to craft most of the really good stuff so Dungeon crawls
are somewhat different. You get XP from combat but generally speaking the
loot is pretty uninteresting (with some notable exceptions).

You need a pretty up-to-date computer to play SWG, at least 768M of RAM, 1G
being optimal from what I have heard. You also will want a good graphics
card and a reasonably fast processor (1.5Ghz or better)

The bottom line is that some things are better and some things are just
different. I had alot of fun playing UO, it's the game that started it all
for me as far as online gaming. I like SWG but it is definitely not a single
player game IMHO. Find yourself a good group of people to play with and your
experience will be much better.

Cheers
