Here's a really weird one...

I am trying to fix my parents HP mini notebook. It seem that when you try and type something the cursor keeps jumping to the left of the letter you type. Its as if someone is holding down the left arrow key. They say they didn't spill anything in it and there is no evidence of that so whats up with this thing? Anyone? Totally baffled

I'm guessing it has a tochpad. Just as a test, shut it off (should be able to in the BIOS or at least the control panel options), does that happen after you do that? Connect an external mouse to use if you need it.

If this happens all over the place, but is not 100% consistant, like you can type for a bit, and then sometimes it moves, chances are that the touchpad is being hit by the wrist when typing.
