Also, i tried testing the PSU by connecting it to the power socket. It did not run, does it need to be connected to the motherboard. I just wanted to test it out.

Yes. The mobo sends the Xoff signal and the PSU turns on. You can turn on a PSU solo, but it is risky and might damage the PSU.
And yes it would fit. My only advice is getting rubber straps ( or whatever are they called in English ) because aTX750 has LOADS of cables.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOADS. I know. I have a TX750 too. But looks cool after organized

I have a 3d aurora that i used in my latest build and I think any psu can fit in there ! its a big case but by the time I got all my components in there including all the psu cables and water cooling tubes it seems alot smaller.
I bought another psu, a corsair hx1000 modular model because when i was building i regretted my having bought a non-modular psu because of all the unused cables in my case.
they have an 850w antec modular psu on newegg for either $140 or $150... i'd have bought that if i found it before i bought the 1000 watt one.($235)
