Hey guys. My question is about my 5 year old-ish PC. Last year I left the country and had the PC put in storage, it worked at that time. Now I just got it back and it is having some problems.

When I first tried plugging it in, the monitor showed no signal. So I played around with my video card and cleared my CMOS a few times. Still nothing. Finally I got my monitor to work after uplugging everything in my PC and including my RAM. I think re-seating my RAM is what caused my PC to boot...

But thats actually the problem, it doesn't boot. It gets to the POST screen but freezes there. It doesn't display my CPU speed correctly and it shows all my IDE drives as NONE. I tried to hold down DEL to get into setup but it freezes. I try to load my flash utility and it says loading "AWDFLASH.exe from BIOS...please wait..." But after about 5-10 minutes it is still just sitting there doing nothing. I tried resetting my CMOS again, unplugging my RAM and re-socketing it again, but still no difference. So none of my drives are recognized and I can't load my flash utility or BIOS. Whats up with this? Does anyone know what this is and how I can fix it?

My Specs are:
AMD Athlon 2600+
Nvidia 6600GT AGP
1GB DDR400 Samsung RAM
Windows XP Pro
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe Mobo

Thanks.

Could you pass me the sledgehammer so that I can "fix" it? :D

What's the psu make & model? Could be it. Try another one.

Clear cmos again for 10 mins to 1 hour with power cord unplugged. Try each stick of ram in each slot.

What auscanzukus said. I have a very similiar system stored. Start it up from time to time. Runs perfect. I think 8). Mine has never done that. Inspect the MB for any bulging, leaking voltage regulators or other damage that may have occured while in storage no less 8).

ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe
Athlon XP 3200+ Barton
Nvidia 6600GT AGP
1GB DDR400 Corsair RAM
80Gb WD IDE HD
Windows XP

Well it is up and running. I just unplugged everything again, did a 10-15 minute CMOS reset and tada...worked.

So thanks for all the advice, but glad I didn't take a sludge hammer to it. It is still a great machine, running strongly. Plays games, and basically now going to be using it for a Entertainment station hooked up to a TV to play Emulators, DVDs, etc.
