i think i know what it is but im not sure, the core 2 extreme QX6850 is a quad-core? i think thats what the Q stands for. because core 2 quad is Q6600, at least thats what im trying to choose between for my cpu. i know the extreme is better but not if its not quad-core. so does any one know for sure? ive searched google and i get quad-core sometimes and i get dual-core other times for the extreme QX6850.

The QX6850 is a quad core with an unlocked multiplier. It should allow higher overclocks than the Q6600 but it costs a lot more so most people don't think it's worth it.

Yup, uguv got it...short and sweet. The only reason someone should get a QX is if they are going for easy overclocking AND have a bunch of money to waste. Other CPUs (such as my Q9550) overclock almost as easy without producing any problems.

I'm looking at that price; might as well spend the extra $100 and get the QX9650 or something simmilar.
