If I am never going to SLI, and was going to get an Nvidia graphics card like the 9800GTX+..what would be the best mobo? If you aren't going to SLI can you use the non-nvidia motherboards? If you can, what is the best motherboard for that? Thanks a lot.

Depends on what CPU you intend to pair with it...

Well I intend to pair it with either an E8400, Q6600, or Q9450 with 4gb of ram and a 9800GTX+.

I would pick one of the P45 chipsets. This one looks particularly good:

Lots of features and overclocks well.

Should I get the E8400, Q6600, or the Q9450? If I am mainly just gaming and surfing the web, etc., no video editing or anything, which would be the best processor for me?

ASUS P5Q LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail $129.99 + S/H $9.39

I'm a cheapo, and I like the chipset to have separate coolers rather then linked.

So the non nvidia mobos will work just fine with an nvidia gfx card if i never planned to SLI?

I wouldn't need that if I was never going to crossfire?

Reply to DJ BOOYAH

If you wanted to crossfire I would go with an X38 or X48 chipset. The P45 I mentioned does actually support crossfire, but not as well. I think the PCI-E lanes have less bandwith in crossfire mode. The point is, most newer motherboards support crossfire, so if your building a new computer than you will probably end up having that feature if you use it or not. Of course you could get an Nvidia chipset, but I do not recommend those as I read copious reports that they are very buggy and do not overclock well.

Regardless, if you are going with a single card setup than a P45 is the way to go (for Intel).

For the processor I would take the e8400.

Doh... that was the deluxe... I'm getting tired.

I'd go X48 with Q9450. For a bit lower budget, P45 with Q9450 or E8400.
