Tried 3.2 with a slight bump in volts with my stock cooler. P95 didn't last very long.

Tried 3.1 lasted a little longer but still not very long.

Seem to be going strong at 3.0. Temps are at 53c with stock cooler and AS5.

Not gonna bump up the volts too much until I get a new heatsink for the chip. Although, the temps on this rig aren't that bad. They were around 30c on stock settings under load around 35c.

Just wondering how high I need to go to really not bottleneck my 4870 right now.

Hoping 3.0ghz will do the trick.

BTW don't know if this matters right now, but I game at 1920 x 1080.

Although is 300mhz really that big of a deal? Always thought a 2.7ghz dual core would be sufficient for most games since most don't utilized multiple cores yet.

Well, you're mostly correct, and I think games that take full advantage of multi-cores can be counted with one hand.

That's likely to change though, but not quickly enough that you should push your system beyond 2.7GHz.
