I'm thinking about buying a UPS and the ones at newegg.com give the wattage of the UPS in their details, I'm curious do I have to match this wattage with my PSU? I got a 1000w PSU and the UPS I'm looking at is 810w. Will it work?

What else should I know when buying a UPS?

Thanks...

No, you don't have to, but it's best to match the wattage. If the UPS is underpowered, your backup time will be shorter than specs. Also, while you may be running a 1000W PSU, the actually wattage usage is lower. Take my o/c'ed pc for example. It uses 220w-ish under load.

This is the one I use:

The audible alert can be turned off via software. Scheduling self-tests is a bonus. Auto shutdown & cancel shutdown if the power comes back in time.
