Windows 7 what happened to my microsoft outlook

*Sigh*.... Yes, Microsoft Office is actually a product on it's own, would you believe? Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and all those goodies aren't part of Windows, contrary to the perception of a surprising number of people.

It was Outlook Express in Windows XP. Then they renamed it to Windows Mail in Vista. Obviously to promote the word "Windows" even more. Then they renamed it again to Windows Mail Live in Windows 7. This time to promote the word "live" they use for their search engine. But basically it is still a free mail client. You can download it from Microsoft site.

It wasn't purely self promotion.... they were merging it into the Windows Live suite, thus the name change.

I for one, am glad they changed the name. It avoids confusion between Outlook Express, and Outlook from the Office suite. As Herr_Koos said, a surprising number of people get certain aspects of Outlook and Outlook Express mixed up.
