After some advice and looking around I've decided on the DS4 as a motherboard. Somewhere along the line I read that it had some issues with using all four slots of memory for 8 GB under OC. Is there any truth to this scuttlebutt?

the more dimms you have the harder it is to achieve a higher stable oc

uping the dim voltage helps but in general its advisable to stay with as few as dimms as possible

i personally wouldn't get 8 GB... nothing really uses it... unless your a hard core photo person it won't make any difference compared to 4 GB... just get 4 GB... save some money and get a higher OC

Well that makes sense. I will go take a look around for some good 2GB memory sticks that can do stable a stable 1200, feel free to make recommendations.

+1 for 2x2GB.

Mushkin and Corsair make good RAM, for example.

Which DS4 are you looking at, GA-X48-DS4?

World's BEST Gb forum at:

says Gb's seem to be 'happiest' with Mushkin memory. Not saying others won't work, but Mushkins seem to require less fiddling, AND respond better TO fiddling, if you're willing to do it. Good Gb specific memory OC'ing guide there, too. DDR2 @ 1200 may be out of reach, though - some people do get 1150 or so out of 1066 spec'd RAM - your mileage may vary!
