Hey.. atm i'm building a gaming computer and have been considering both what graphic card and mobo combo to go for..
I've also considered going Crossfire or SLI for that sake, and i'm kinda clueless when it comes to what mobo go take if you go crossfire.. I want it to be crossfire supporting ofc..

Feel free to comment everything and give some great advise..

Thanks beforehand.

Here are the graphic cards i've been looking at:

ASUS EAH4870X2/HTDI/2G Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB -

EVGA 01G-P3-1286-AR GeForce GTX 280 FTW Edition 1GB -

And here comes the Mobo's:

NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI:
- EVGA 132-CK-NF79-A1 LGA 775 -
- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813188025

- ASUS Striker II Extreme LGA

ASUS Rampage Extreme LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard:

Please help me out! .. and thanks again ;)

In Short, Intel Chipsets do CrossFire/ATI (x38, x48, P45, etc...)
NVIDIA Chipsets (790i, etc...) do SLI (NVIDIA).

What is your total system budget?
Folks can help spec out a computer.

And looking at the price ranges you are looking at, I would consider holding off a month or so. The new X58 Mobos and Nehalems will be out next month.

its not good theory.

Yeah.. okay.. i'm willing to spend pretty much what's needed for high-end gaming computer.. i dont wanna go extreme on the CPU tho.. but.. If i was to wait for the x58, when would i be able to buy Nahalem CPU's then? you got any idea when they are gonna be out? and are you totaly sure about the next month release of the mobos?

I would go with the newer 55nm GPU's. So instead of a 280 it would be a 285 series. I personally have a EVGA 285 SC and am very happy with it.
