AMD Athlon X2 4850e
Gigabyte GA-MA78GPM-DS2H bios F1
G.Skill 4x1GB DDR2 1066
500W PSU

other test computer

AMD Athlon X2 4000+ 65W
MSI K9MM-V bios 1.7
Corsair TwinXMS2 2x1gb cms2-1024-6400C4
500W PSU

the gigabyte board fails to USE two dimm, it does see them in BIOS and in CPUID
System Properties does not show 2.00GB it shows either 916MB (128UMA) and 768 (UMA 256mb)
it fails to boot dual channel in any slot configuration
all bios tweaks were made with 2 in slot 1, slot 2 to attempt to achieve 2gb or dual channel
change ram speed, change voltages, change timings, change NB volt, change FSB & cpu volt, lower sideport, disable sideport. everything including different memories, different CPU, different PSU

a memtest86+ tested all positive results with 0 errors after 2 or 3 passes
setup with either 1 on slot 1, or 2 in slot 1 and slot 2 with successful POST
i tried a few in slot 2, slot 3, slot 4 to check the slots and they passed with no problems

i have been in contact with Gigabyte Tech Zone repeatedly, they gave me no real solution after 5 full complete replies
I am going to RMA the board
I would like your feedback on the diagnosis and problem, if you have had similar with other cpu/ mem/ motherboards, or the same board, or similiar 780G from any manufacturer.

thanks

No comments/ideas. Just rma it to GB. They're very fast at RMA. Usually ship back in 1-2 weeks.

with as buggy as these boards seam to be, don't expect great things out of the replacement either. lots of stories about people going through them like crazy and spending more time in RMA than with a functioning computer.

ps. they are not very fast, more than 2 weeks here. If they cared about the customers, they'd send replacement boards imediatly with a CC deposit like Abit did/does
