Can anyone suggest an internally-mounted drive caddy that will allow me to swap 3.5" SATA drives? My intention is to use several drives as offline backups.
Preferably something of a high build quality (rather than plastic and flimsy). I'm happy with my Antec P183 and would rather not stick a cheap plastic drive holder into it!
These are usually made of plastic, can't say I've seen any that are not.
External eSATA cases can be found in high quality aluminium cases, some even have fans for cooling, some can hold 2 drives. While they are more expensive, they are very sturdy and reliable.
I have 3 Welland eSATA cases which are used for backup and media storage, my oldest one is over 3 years old the second one about 2 years and the last one about 6 months, this one has no screws for the hdd and came with backup software disk but didn't come with the adaptor plate for eSATA like the previous ones.
So if you go down this route check that adaptor plate and leads come in the package, everyone is cutting costs and often you have to buy stuff, that should have been in the package to make things work.
