Hi. We have a new small business that just grew into co-located servers (first time setting up at that level). I set it up with a Linksys RVS4000 two months ago and have had nothing but issues. The most recent situation is a set of frequent crashes, and while we have been able to restore most functionality we can nolonger use remote management. Im not looking to trouble shoot this router anymore, Ive been all through that on other boards / tech support. Im now looking for a more robust, and redundant solution. Can anyone suggest a Gb router, 4+ ports, dont need wireless, prefer VPN but not required, router which has proven to be bullet proof? Also, Im nervous to get one router with internal redundancy as it seems silly to put the redundancy IN the unit you are concerned about failing. So I guess I would prefer some setup where theres two routers, itentically setup, and one takes over on fail of the other. So, for instance, something like a pinging switch in front of the two, then out the back of each runs a line to a backwards Y hub into one line to the server. Make any sense? Trying to avoid enterprise solutions, want to keep solution under about $1k.

That pretty much counts Cisco out, although they would have what you need. One thing to keep in mind. Going cheap on a network is NOT the best sollution.

OK, well if theres just no reliable solution under 1k I guess we could stretch to 2k. The thing is were a new company and expect to have a much more flexible budget within a year. To get there, though, we need to have reliability on a reasonable budget. I really didnt think our needs were extream at this point, but continuous failure in the first two months is frankly shocking to me from a unit by cisco/linksys dubbed "business" class.
