TSMC and UMC eyeing 45nm production

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will start volume production on 45nm technology in the third quarter of 2007 at the earliest, according to company vice president Jack Sun, while sources added that United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) is also working on developing its 45nm process technology. The collaboration between IBM, Infineon Technologies, Chartered Semiconductor and Samsung Electronics on 45nm production process has progressed, with the first tape out proceeding at IBM's 12" fab, and other members of the alliance stating they are on schedule to introduce their own production by end of 2006, according to officials from the companies at a recent Chartered technology forum in Santa Clara. What is the appropriate Tj. max max to be used when measuring the the temperature of a 45nm processor.

@orangegator: I havent stopped laughing for the past 5min THAT MADE MY DAY!!!

 

Oh since I am assuming you want advice: go in your garage and look for a bottle that is orange and smells good (if you cant figure that out its a gas can) then pour it in your case and light it on fire. Test your temps and see if there is a difference. Lighter not included

...that's better, its good that you edited that. The assumed TjMax value for the 45nm processors is 95C.
