Take a look at this benchmark test from hdTune. What is going on here? On previous tests, the access time was negative :) Enjoy!

HD Tune: MDT MD1600JS-00NCB1 Benchmark

Transfer Rate Maximum : 60.9 MB/sec
Transfer Rate Average : 27.6 MB/sec

P.S. I have a really net picture I'd like to add too, but I don't know how to add it here in the message.

Ok, I reinstalled hdTune. Here is a screen shot of the benchmark before and after the uninstall. Note the access times. Before the uninstall, I repeatedly had negative access times. A windows xp scan of the hdd revealed no bad sectors and the hdTune general info suggests no problems. However, my computer hangs randomly for 3-10 sec. every 30-60 sec. A clean install and format did not solve the problem. Occurs with every program used. Ran memtest86 on ram with no errors.
