MB for Phenom X4

Hi!
I'm trough with Intel and now want to move to AMD.
This is my current PC:
ECS P965T-A, Intel C2D 6400, 350W PSU, Samsung 400GB HDD, a CDROM, floppy, some PCI-E cards.
There is nothing special about it only that it can annoy anyone while doing some work (chance of the PC getting restarted by it self is 1:10).
I guess the newest model of Phenom's is 9950 @ 2.6 GHz.
Troubles comes when I need to find a motherboard for it.
I found this one, that is suited for me: GA-MA790X-DS4
Noticed that there need to be 140W power and this one has this support, also AM2+ of course.
It really bites that I have a nVidia card, otherwise I could make a CrossFire mode.
I wanted to ask if there is anything wrong about this motherboard that would make impossible the CPU or other components not to work, like some support is missing or this motherboard isn't recommended or the PSU is not good or else.
This will be a Desktop PC for Home user (doing some work, watching movies, music, maybe some games, other).
Maybe there is a better motherboard?
Range of expenses? - lets try not to reach 500$.

I'm also gonna buy a phenom 9950 & is stuck in the same problem.
However, gigabyte's board is good - maybe u should add an extra "H" behind it and check that - its the latest !
My opinion is with the MSI DKA790-GX board.

That MSI MB looks amazing with all those extra cooling systems.
Weird, but this MB isn't sold in my country :/
Too bad for me that there is a Graphics card intergrated.

well you could get a 9850 which is a 125w processor, which means more motherboards to choose from...

I want to stay with 9950 ^^
GA-MA790FX-DQ6 guess is the most suitable.

Its better to have 800W PSU (maybe OCZ).
And i'll stick with the 9950.
Actually msi is high price (160$), while foxconn A7DA-S is 114$ !!

a 350w psu will be enough if you dont have a video card...definitely wont be enough if you do...

Ups, just checked, I have a 450W PSU
I have a graphics card - 7600 GS, nothing much!
Don't need a computer for games only and I don't have a FullHD TV to see games in such a great resolution.
Found that there are many good MBs with good prices, just would see some more info about them and find some recommendations.
Can there occur any problems with my current devices, like RAM?

Do I need 790GX? As I read it's meant to be for gaming, so I guess I need to stick with 790FX.

I have the GA-MA790X-DS4 and it's a great board. While it does support the Phenom 9950 BE you will see on the gigabyte website that it is with the latest BIOS version. So it's gonna depend on what BIOS version is on that board as to your ability to boot a 9950 without problems. The following board is better, all tho more expensive.

You may still need to have a Semperion handy just to flash the BIOS though if you buy a board that doesn't have the latest BIOS. Personally I would recommend getting a 9850 BE which can be found for as little as 174 on new egg. Your PSU should be fine as long as you don't plan on putting in a power hungry graphics card.

As far as RAM Gigabyte has a recommended list on their website useful if you're looking for DDR2 1066 RAM. Since you don't plan on using it for Gaming though I'd recommend getting some good DDR2 800 RAM. If your going to be using alot of memory hungry applications, like Photoshop, then I'd say get the 64-bit version of Vista and at least 4GB or RAM and to get 8 GB of RAM if you can afford it .

I must say it's hard to find a "good" motherboard, because we all have other needs and wills.
For me, S/PDIF isn't needed, whatever eSATA is it's not needed, many PCI-E x16 slots also not needed and other things.
Btw, it says here that it's K9A2 PLATINUM V2 (the V2 at the end), that doesn't change anything, right?
And it looks like 9950 is supported.
Hope that I can get any cooler that supports AM2+ socket.
I'm using GoodRAM 800(i think).

Why there are 3 PCI-E x16 slots?
I guess later on I will change my card and nothing amazing can be done with one card so there is a need to add 2 cards.
CrossFireX was quad, right? so why there are only 3 graphics slots?

K9A2 PLATINUM V2 only is sold here, guess never version is better ^^

I noticed that V2 doesn't have eSATA.

Actually it have 4 PCI graphic card slots! I guess if you don't need them or care about the boards fancy features then maybe you're better off with the Gigabyte board. As for the MSI board the V2 is suppose to have a better layout.

Oh yes, maybe you can take the Zalman 9300 AT, IF you're overclocking the phenom.
