I'm going to build a completely new pc. I'm planning to use a 4850 in my pc. (Maybe a 4870 if they drop in price)
Later on , I will upgrade my video card. However, when do you think my card will be outdated and do you think it would be better to put a secondary 4850 in crossfire, or just buy a new card?
This will help me decide if I go for x38 or P45 Chipset.
I have a few motherboards in my mind.
X38 Asus P5E3 Premium/wifi (x48) €260
Asus P5E3 Deluxe €200
Asus P5E3 €160
Asus P5E €180
P45 Asus P5Q3 Deluxe/Wifi €185
Asus P5Q Deluxe €170
Asus P5Q €100
Don't like the P5Q3 premium. (Why 4 Gb-Lan? :S)
I'm looking for the most budget friendly motherboard, With still many nice features. So I need opinions about these things:
1. X38 or P45 Would it be better (both budget and performance minded) to go crossfire later (when the 4850 is outdated), or just buy a new card? Keep in mind that only x38/48 support full crossfire, but are more expensive. Calculate this in please.
2. More or less features Should I better buy a more 'basic' motherboard and buy the features I need seperated (Wifi / remote controller ...) Or buy an all-in motherboard. (Performance and budget wise)
3. Which motherboard? Which one of these do you recommend?
Do you advice an other motherboard? another manufacturer?
based on what you've said, you definitely don't need an x38/48. a P45, or even a P43 motherboard should be fine. and as for the extras like wifi, if you don't need them, don't bother with them. motherboards with all these extras tend to cost alot more because they throw in so many features. but if you only need wifi, then just pick up a cheap usb or pci adapter for $30.
