Laptop to Desktop wi-fi sharing

Hi guys, I have a dilemma. I told my ISP to $@*! off so now until I'm hooked up to the competition my desktop has no connection to the web. I do, however, have wifi connectivity on my lappy. I also have a wired Linksys router. I've tried setting up ICS but I'm not sure If I need 2 cables or a crossover or if I even need them if I have a router. I would like to not have to use more than 1 net cable if I can avoid it.
