More Information

I cannot get a Gigabyte P35-DS3P rev1.0 motherboard to reliably work with a RAID10 config that has 4x Samsung 753LJ (750Gb) hard drives. I also remember sometime ago my motherboard wouldn't recognise adding a single 750Gb non-raid DISK when the motherboard had 4x 320Gb hard drives. All drives are connected to the orange ports.

The symptom is either the BIOS hangs during port scan and cannot reliably detect 1 or 2 of the 750Gb hard drives. I'm thinking the motherboard cannot handle >2TB RAID. I've tried even buying a dedicated RAID controller (Highpoint 2310) and the same problem happens! So I'm thinking it must be the motherboard. I've put in a support ticket with Gigabyte but it has been 3days with no response!!!

I also tried a RAID5 with 3x750Gb with similar issue as above! So I am quite convinced there is some kind of motherboard limitation with 2TB. I have updated my MB bios to F11 and that didn't help.

Any other ideas?
