I have a external 500 GB hdd that isn't getting recognized in my computer, but is in device manager! D M is sayin =g the device is enabled and working properly. It started when I knocked loose the tether cable while I was playing music. Note: all music and video is stored on the external drive in question. I plugged it back in an error happened and it wanted to be formatted. I started the process and had to cancel early. I went back later to try again and the above mentioned problem started. All I want is to use the drive for my new PS3!

I use the hdd w/ my HP dv6 1030 us laptop running 64bit Vista

If you don't need the data, you can just re-format it and use it for whatever purpose you need.
