ASUS P5Q-PRO

2G 800 DDR2
COOLERMASTER 600W ... all running on XP SP2
easy enough. BUT. I have run into one problem, the audio ... i installed the audio drivers off the support cd ... restarted, no sound. None of the drivers seem'd to have installed properly, the RealTek Audio folder was on my system, but was not correctly installed. Went to click on one of the applications, but nothing happens... go to uninstall and comes up with an error, saying it couldnt be completely uninstalled...
The funny thing is when i install the driver, it doesnt complete properly. it jumpst straight to 80% then hangs for awhile then completes... misses a whole chunk ....
and yes i have tried lots of things, talked to someone from asus via email and have been no help.
=============
the things i've tried
==============
- changing bios settings
- getting latest driver / with clean drivers program
- AC97
- fresh OS / support cd ...
There are a couple BIOS settings you need to set properly.
Also once the software is installed make sure you are outputting audio on the right device, I had to set mine manually. Also make sure you are not outputting on the HDMI audio and the standard channels.
