Ok my 2 gb pen drive with lots of important information on it seems to no longer work. normally i back up but iv just installed win 7 on desktop and laptop so it was only soely on pendrive for 3 days or so but during that time..

this morning i pluged the pen drive in ready to back it all up and the PC did not recognise the device, nor did the LED light up on the pen drive. i tried it on 4 differnt machines with xp and 7 and still no luck now and again the LED would light but still the PC would say driver failed to install ect. i really need the data on this USB stick any suggestions of companies, programs ect that could help.

I have had this to happen before. The lesson learned about this is that the pen drive is a backup of you primary data on your pc. These usb drives go bad more often than hard drives based on my experience and I don't trust them any more than to carry a "copy" of my valuable data from my primary data source.

I hate to hear this happened to you. The one thing is you may still be able to recover the usb drive but the data gets erased by the program that is put out by the manufacturer of the usb drive. I don't think all have this option but one brand, I don't remember which had a recovery program on their website that you could use to reformat and recover the drive itself. I had no luck recovering the data with it.

There may be a way to recover it but I personally haven't seen that option for usb flash drives.
