I'm building a whole new pc from scratch and just wanted some thoughts.

Antec p182 case
Intel E8400 - plan on overclocking the hell out of it :)
Zalman 9500 cpu cooler
EVGA nForce 750i mainboard
OCZ Platinum 4GB DDR2 1066
PC Power and Cooling 750W
Asus Xonar DX sound card
Samsung 20x dvdr burner
Western digital 250 gb 7200 rpm HD

I'm going to pick up a 9800gtx+ when they come out mid july :D

I've been toying between the zalman cooler or an arctic cooling freezer 7 pro... not sure if the price difference is worth it.

Also thinking about getting a western digital raptor... same deal w/ price for the premium.

I'm looking to future proof this for a while, so i figured the 750w psu would be good for sli in the future and the motherboard good enough for a quad core later on and more ram... yeah?

Anybody with some thoughts, please post. Thanks!!

i would get the radeon 4850 over the 9800+ but i guess since you are getting an nvidia motherboard you might want to go SLI later

you could also get 800mhz ddr2 ram and overclock it, instead of getting the 1066 one.

raptors aren't worth it. they are loud and hot. anything from the seagate 7200.11 is almost as good as a raptor. there is the new velociraptor for 300bucks (300gb).

not sure if 750watts will be enough if you ever want to crossfire two 9800gtx's.

do you need a sound card? i'm assuming that you have a 7.1 surround sound or somthing and that onbaord is not adequate. if not don't get the card.

not sure how good the chipset from nvidia. maybe intel instead so you could also crossfire in case you will get 4850 or 4870 cards?

from the couple reviews i've read i think the gtx+ outperforms the 4850 for only 30 more $.

i might get the antec true power quatro 850 for my psu. it has modular cabling and 100 more watts for the same price. im not worried about the multiple rails.

+1 for HD4850. Good price, low power consumption. Unless you wanna a SLI system.
+1 for that raptors don't worth the price.
+1 for Seagate 7200,11

Cooling Freezer pro 7, Xigmatek HDT-S1283, Zalman CNPS9700, or Scythe Orrochi are all good. Price follows performance but price/performance varies. So it is your choice.

Info : ASUS P5EX38 comes together with a non-onboard HD-Audiocard (7.1) but of course extra bought cards are better. But personally..I don't need extra card.
