Hello all.. Have a bit of a problem.

I'll keep it simple..
Cpu is an Intel Q6600
Mobo is a Gigabyte GA-P35-S3G
Hard drive is Western Digital 250GB SATA drive - WD2500AAKS
DVD-RW is an NEC something.. Connected to the IDE slot on the mobo.

Problem is..
When at the 'select drive to install' page, of the Vista Ultimate 64-bit installation (after entering the serial), it says something along the lines of "Drives not found" and fails to display my SATA drive.
I've plugged it all in.. Connector from PSU going to the HDD, and a L-shaped sata connector to HDD and the other end to SATA port 1 on the motherboard. In bios it shows the HDD at the top location, and shows my IDE DVD-RW as the slave at the bottom.

Not sure of this is right.. But tried loading the drivers located in the "GSATA" folder on the gigabyte disc that came with the mobo, but in the folder there is only drivers for xp32 and amd64. These files both say they are incompatible.

Any ideas anyone? I got a feeling its some setting in the BIOS to change. Been trying to install it for the last 4/5 hours so any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

If you're not on RAID, you shouldn't need a driver during windows install. My guess is it's something else since your hdd shows up in bios.

Is Vista SP1?

Have you tried another SATA data cable & slot?

Is your IDE cable hooked up like this?

[mobo]==[nothing]==[master]

Your IDE drive must be set to master with the jumper cap in the back.
