I am trying to install Windows 7 on my PC build, I can see my SATA II HD in the bios but windows won't see it when it asks where to install the OS. I have tried to install drivers specified on MB installation disk. No success. Can anyone help? Could it be that the SATA isn't powered up? Would the bios recognize it in that case?

I am running:
Giga GA-P55-UD4P
I7 860
Corsair DDR3 1600 4GB RAM
2 x WD Caviar Black 500GB SATA II HDs
ECS 9600GT 2GB graphics card
PCU 550 watt

Go inside ur BIOS and look for SATA Transfer Mode, or something similar, which should let you choose between:

IDE - legacy mode for Windows XP
AHCI/SATA - native SATA for Vista+
RAID - if you want to use onboard RAID

In your case, you should select AHCI and Windows Vista or Win7 should find your disk without any additional driver.
