How do you find the safely remove hardward if its not in the notification area?

Several icons are not showing in my notification area. I've gone to properties many times & clicked on "always show", but now they aren't even listed in the properties under 'current items'. They are only in the 'past items'. How do I get them back into the CURRENT ITEMS? Why do they keep disappearing?

Start and Run this command
RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll

You will get the "Safely Remove Hardware" window, from where you can stop the device

You don't say "how" to start & run this command......where do I go to do that?

Win Key+R, then cut and Paste into Run command....then hit enter
