Hello,
I just installed 2 4850's in crossfire about 3 days ago. Today I finally tried running some games. Almost every game i tried to run, at some point crashed with the error at the left bottom of the screen saying that Display drivers atikmdag have recovered successfully and closes the application I was running. The graphics on the games look great before it happens but it closes all the time. Any help please.

Google 'catalyst 8.7 beta', install them. And install the HD48x0 hotfix

Install hotfix and Catalyst 8.6 or better yet the 8.7 beta if you can find it.

do you really think the hotfix will help, because everytime i try to install it, the drivers get all messed up

Have you been monitoring your temps on your 4850's. I run 2 4850's in crossfire. If your cards are overheating this can be causing the crashes. With the stock drivers the fans dont spin up as fast as they need to so the card idles around 80c. During one game I checked my temps and I was at 99c. There is a hack you can do to manually turn up the fan speed. This has helped me get the cards to idle around 60c and top out around 85c. Search the threads and you shouldn't have any trouble finding it. Should only need to use it for a few weeks until ATI releases updated catalyst which should address this issue.

No I am not using the stock cooler. I overclocked my cards but am cooling them with 2 DuoOrb's so they are idleing around 40 degrees or so. Please, any other suggestions?
