I'm trying to build myself a PC, but I've run into a problem connecting the PSU. The PSU is an Antec TP3-550, and there is a fan connector on one of the cables from the PSU. Note that I'm not referring to the connectors marked "fan only" that are for the PSU's case fan controller. It's a male connector just like the ones on my case fans that are connected to the motherboard. The instructions say nothing about it, does it need to be connected to anything?

Almost certain that it's either so your motherboard can monitor and control your power supplies fan speed, or to just connect a 3 pin fan off the PSU and not the motherboard. If it is not in the manual then it is most likely not for the motherboard, since it would explain the PSU temp management in the manual.

Read the manual. It is a RPM connector. If you plug it to a 3 pin connector on your motherboard it will report the RPM's of the PSU fan.

Good catch dallasjoh. Didn't think of looking at the online manual.

Ok I'm being pedantic - but that is actually a "female" connector!! :hello:
