Saw this card, and it was cheaper than the other 9600GTs.

Does anybody know how much quieter or louder this card is compared to the standard 9600GT, which I understand is pretty darn quiet?

It looks like it's quieter, but you can use software to control fan speed:

Still I'd like to be sure. It's for my HTPC that will be running Linux, just to clarify.

But since it's a custom cooling solution, can it be tweaked with software like the standard one? I'm not so sure, unless Inno3D plugged the fan onto the same pins the custom solution uses.

I'd prefer not to slow down the fan if it's possible though, but I'll do it if I have to.

I have the passively cooled ECS 9600GT that comes with the Arctic Cooling S2 heatsink in my HTPC.

Your HTPC case must to tall or wide enough (depending on the orientation) to fit it though. The heatsink adds about 1.5" to the height of the card.
