Will Scythe NINJA 2 fit inside Silverstone's LC17?

No. The best performing heatsinks that can fit in the LC17 are the Xigmatek S963 and S964 and the OCZ Vendetta in the tower-style segment. Other down-draft style cooler will probably fit, but I'm not sure they would perform very well if they are very close to the top of the case.

I own a Scythe Ninja and Ninja Mini (desktop and HTPC, respectively). My brother owns the LC17 and IIRC the internal dimension from processor die to top of case is 150mm. The Ninja Mini will fit just fine in the LC17 since it fits (perfectly) in my Antec NSK2480 (which is much smaller internally).

Yes, easily. But don't count on adding the optional 120mm fan to the side panel (i.e. will not work). My dad has the 900 with a TRU and it would only work with the cooler in the horizontal position with the fan on top blowing up toward the Big Boy fan. Since the Ninja 2 has a larger footprint than the TRU, it will interfere with the side fan in every orientation.

That's a bummer.
i heard good things about the ninja2...
:\
well i guess ill go with the mini. do you think he will do the job? again i remind a QX9650 processor is about to be installed in the case.
And if not, what other cooling do you recommend for this kind of setup?

Thanks for the info. It sucks about the side door fan on the 900 but such is life. How do you find the sound lvl on the Ninja 2?
