Anybody could help me out OC my q6600 on this board. I'm having trouble, oc'ing this over 3.1ghz on stock cooler. Can only increase the vcore to 5-10-15% :(. If anybody got this board, how are your bios settings? Thx

What is the rest of your system and temps?

What you need to do is:

1) Get a better CPU cooler.
2) Download Coretemp, run it and look at your CPU's voltage ID.
3) Do a little math (Voltage ID / 20) to determine how much you will be raising your voltage at 5% intervals.
4) Add as much voltage as you need to keep it stable at your desired speed (temperature willing, should max out no higher than 75c under prime95 load) with a maximum voltage of 1.55v.

Also, you may need to put your RAM at a 1:1 ratio, it's lowest setting, to ensure stability at a higher FSB.
Worst case, 3.1Ghz is still a decent overclock from stock and some Q6600's are unable to clock even that high.

Oh, and welcome to the fourms!

Hey thx

Managed to take it to 3.6 but only with 15%vcore, posted but didn't boot windows. ANything else isn't stable. My xigmatec should be here tomorrow though. The only thing that tickled me was reading people taking their G0 steppers to 3.6 on stock cooler without without vcore increase. On the other hand case isn't very bright either, should get good case too, so maybe thats why.
Just wanted to know how people overclock their biostars tp43.

Rest of the system is the fry some 4850 eggs, and 2x2gb gskill 6400.

:pfff:

No, not likely.
Perhaps someone was able to boot and pull a CPU-Z screenshot but not get it stable.
Hell, my G0 on watter requires 1.55v to be stable at 3.6Ghz.

What is your chips Vid?
You will probably need to add some more voltage to get it stable, especially if it is one of the lower Vid's.
My best guess is that you are pushing somewhere between 1.38v and 1.52375v (1.2v Vid and 1.325v Vid respectively).
Try +20% or +25% and see if that gets you any further.
Probably going to want to wait for your Xiggy, though.
These chips can put out some heat at higher voltages and frequencies.

Allright put the xigmatec cooler in.
Was on 345 FSB on stock cooler, with 5% voltage increase, rest all on auto. Temps were 50 idle 70 load or so.
After xigmatec idle temps went about 10C down.
Next I tried to raise the fsb to 400 with 15%vcore increase(it's about 1.5v), booted to windows but failed immediately on prime.
Managed to put it on 370 fsb with 15% vcore increase, ran prime for a couple of mins reaching 85C, awful smell inside the case, so I stopped it.
Now running on 366 fsb, 1:1, 10%vcore increase. Ran prime fine for about 10 mins, didn't test it more, reached max temps of 75C.

You mentioned the VID outlw, I don't know what you mean by that :)
Anyway here are the voltage configs from the BIOS, and my question is how to modify them, they are all on auto.

Chipset Overvoltage: 0.10V, 0.20V, 0.30V

VTT Overvoltage: 0.10, 0.20, 0.30

CPU GTL Ref Voltage: 0.63xVTT, 0.67xVTT, 0.65, 0.61

CPU PLL Voltage: 1.5v, 1.6v, 1.7v, 1.8v

Will get a an antec 900 or thermaltake armor+ soon, to lower the temps. Xigmatec cooler pushes the air towards the top of the case, only way I could mount it, so either one of those 2 cases should be good for that.

:bounce: Any help is appreciated

Bump - I'm reviving this old topic since I have a similar problem.

Did anyone figure out how to change the voltage of the cpu?

Yes, the CPU voltage is changed in the BIOS.
The OP's issue was that he could only raise it in 5% increments and not set it to a specific voltage.
