Hey guys, I've been waiting till this summer for the new graphics cards to come out to build my first pc, and i have to say i already learned alot about the parts. Well anyway I want to use this computer for gaming, music production, browsing the internet, and the usual multimedia purposes. I wanted to keep the cost of just the pc at around $1100. Well anyway, this is what i came up with.
PSU = As of right now, i think a 650 watt psu will do fine, but I'm not sure how i should go about selecting one, since i have no idea how many connectors or w/e is needed for my gpu.
So far the pc comes out to be about $975 with out the psu. If someone could tell me what psu would be sufficient enough for this computer, I'm looking for a psu priced around $65. I was also thinking if the Hd 4870 was worth the extra $100 over the Hd 4850. I also have no intention of going crossfire since I will then have to add another $100 to the mobo price, and some more to the psu. Im intenter on using this pc for 4 years with a gpu upgrade in 2 years. Well for those 2 years i want to be able to play most games at decent frame rates with the exception of Crysis. Im also not intending to max out all the games, so im guessing I'll be able to. Well, drop your thoughts on my new build guys.
Your motherboard choice puts you right about the pricepoint for some interesting possibilities with a P43/P45 motherboard.
Not my first or even second choice for PSUs, but decent reviews and fits your budget http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817341005

Thanks for the input efx92, but like i said earlier, the pc is going to be used for music production, hence recording, so i will need the soundcard. And, im not sure what you guys mean about my mobo choice, is it bad or good? And I have a freind with that monitor, and i cant see anything wrong with it. Its pretty good for the price.
OCZ is supposed to be good.
Apevia makes some interesting cases, but the quality [control] was lacking in one I bought, and the materials were flimsy. On this one, I noted that it comes with an 80mm rear fan where it clearly accepts a 120mm; that's absurdly cheap.
I'd look at some of the low-mid priced CoolerMaster cases. I've had to re-tap mounting screws in them sometimes, but that's easy enough and I've otherwise been satisfied with them. They have good airflow, and come with and/or accept 120mm fans.

sorry to double post, but i was also wondering what would be a good fan for my cpu, since i plan on overclocking it. And can someone pls tell me if the hd 4870 is really that much better than the 4850.
If you're not worried about playing with all the eye-candy on, and since you'll be limited to 1650x1080 resolution, the 4850 will almost certainly do just fine for the next couple of years. Spend that extra $100 on a nicer case with better airflow to cool it, though.
You also can almost certainly get away with a 500ish W PSU. 650W is overkill for that build.
