I will use the system for gaming as well as encoding.

Reasons I chose the Q9300 instead of the Q6600 is I get a $40 discount for that CPU, so the difference is very small.

Reasons I choose the X48 is that I want to buy another 4870 to run them in Crossfire.

What do you guys think? which things from the website I mentioned above you would change, staying at similar cost?

Thanks all!

ps-links seem not to be working, please copy paste ;)

I  would not choose the Q9300 over the Q6600 especially if you overclock. Go with the Q9450 if you can afford it instead. Q9300 is a poor overclocker due to its low multiplier and it only have 6MB cache (8 on 6600 12 on 9450).

Thank for you going Crossfire instead of SLI :D.

If you want to CF get a 750W+  PSU.

Good advice. Either get q6600 or upgrade to q9450. Skip q9300. 750+ w psu is needed for dual 4870, ideally 850w.

+1 for skipping the Q9300 since it is handicapped with low l2 cache and multiplier. Would get at least 800W psu for the dual 4870s.

Changing the parts to:

CPU
Intel Core2 Quad Q9450

POWER
Antec TPQ-850W

How does this looks?
The only problem I see in this, is that it's ~au$220 more dollars just for this uprades.
I have never OC and I'm not sure I will.

Are this upgrades worth the difference in money?

Bad situation, because Q9450's the best of the bunch, yet Q6600's a great cost effective alternative, yet there is no good middle ground, the Q9300 is half cache so I say no go.

Antec PSUs are good but sometimes overpriced. How much is that PSU? Is it SLI/Xfire certified?

The price is OK for me :)

It's XFire certified, which is what I need.

'm thinking of getting this cooler: Thermalright 120 Extreme. Would it fit the NZXT Hush case?
