New i7 build, please advise me on mem settings and OCing

I just got a new computer!

i7 920 D0 stepping
Noctua 1366 cooler
GA-EX58-UD4P
6GB of OCZ-1600 ram (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227381)

I want to do a moderate OC, somewhere around 3.4 ghz, and set the memory to run appropriately... I don't play games too much, so I don't want extreme performance, I just want my day to day use to be quicker...STABLENESS IS IMPORTANT!

I'm using osx86 instead of windows, so I can't check the CPU tempurature from the OS...

Before I had a Q6600, which was easy - change change the FSB number, drop the ram ratio to match speed, done!

The i7 looks alot more complicated!

Could someone advice on what settings - fsb, memory timings, etc... to achieve a stable light OC?

Well, the i7 platform was marketed as designed for overclocking, so once you pick up the basics, I guess things will be easy.
