I use this on my main system. The software is complicated and I use it for one thing mainly and that is to turn my system on by remote control . It's a 5.25 bay device, but it looks good with blue LED readouts and display system specs and useless news headlines upon demand. As far as using this to control my media center or digital cable signal, I don't. Software interface was apparently written by Helen Keller. I paid much less BTW.
How about enabling Power on USB option in bios or on the mobo by jumpers if You r m/b has one of theese and use any USB remote or wireless keyboard/mouse. Have not tried , just an idea. But I know for sure that I have seen Power on USB options on both - bios and with jumpers.
The device should be able to turn any pc on via remote regardless of OS. Whether it does anything else may be up for question. I've heared of people modding wireless doorbells to do that task.
