The motherboard that u choosed has 790i chipset which only supports DDR3 RAM.if u havent bought it yet then i say go for a 780i board which supports DDR2 and u can save some bucks

Really im choosing all components for my new computer.
790i chipset is the best option that i see and i dont sure who have more perfomance, ddr3 1333, ddr3 1600 or ddr2 1:1 ratio with q9550 (changing mb).
SLI is a interesting option but not final.
X48 chipset better than i790 ultra?
I have the impression that nvidia i790 plataform is "strong" that intel X48 because i think intel launch it like a product between X38 and future X58... its my perception or anyone think same?
If X48 mobs are best choice (forgetting SLI option), Asus Rampage Extreme or other?
Have u got your RAMs?
If not then get a DDR2 800 RAM CL4 and get a X38 board instead of X48 because the difference isnt really much,u may want to look @ ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA.
What resolution do u play at ? u may not need SLI/CF.

I dont have nothing.
I have a dual G5 Macintosh and want to configure a good PC for design, 3D and gaming over 2000€.
At the moment i think to buy, Asus Striker II Extreme, Q9550 processor, 8gb OCZ 1333 or 1600mhz, Coolermaster PSU and Cosmos S case, velociraptor and 2 x 750gb seagate disks, nvidia BFG gtx280 and a Zalman 9700 cooler. (sorry for the offtopic)
Go for DDR2 800 RAM and 780i SLI MOBO(IF u need SLI) because the difference between DDR2 and DDR3 isnt much and u can save some money with it.
For GPU,go for HD 4870X2 instead, its more expensive but its better.
I would go for the P45 and save a few bucks...Look for the MSI,Asus,or Gigabyte P45's...they are the best that you can look for, really.
If not,go for X48...Nvidia SLI boards suck except for their ability to do SLI.
The drivers aren't much different(I'm vouching for ATi since MS supports AMD,but can't be sure on that),and the 4870X2 will completely own 1920 resolution.
1920x1200 probably will be resolution i use.
Thx for HD 4870X2 idea.
I dont sure about 780i chipset and ddr2, ill spent more money but want to use my pc almost two years without problems with good perfomance.
Other question, between nVidia and Ati products there are some diffences/problems with drivers on Windows?
Thanks.
thanks mate
well for 1920x1200 u will benefit from MultiGPU,so i say go for HD 4870X2 + X38 board for future CrossFire if needed.
Take a look @ ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA,it has a great price and its a good board.
Dont worry,DDR3 doesnt have alot of difference with DDR2 so dont worry about keeping your PC for almost 2 years,DDR2 will do fine
The last question u asked, yes the drivers are different with each other
