I need to edit the registry on an old laptop. The laptop wont boot so I need to edit it using another laptop. I have the hard drive from the old connected to the new via a USB bridge. Please tell me how to use regedit to access/change/edit the registry on the old one from the new one. (XP OS on old system, W7 on new)

You need to have the same OS on both systems, I would not mess trying to load an XP registry on a Win 7 PC.

If the laptop will boot to a CD, there are utilities out there that you can use to edit the registry off the CD.
