Hello guys, I have had a bit of an adventure with this mobo as have many others, and I have several questions to ask you.

First my current RIG setup is this:

x64 with SP1
Q9550
8 GB G Skill DDR 3 1600
1 X GTX 280
Toughpower 1200 PSU (had intended to go Tri-SLI)
All running on the forsaken Striker ii NSE mobo.

Now...
As most people have experienced, I received the CPU Init post the first time I attempted to boot my machine. After weeks of searching through forums, I tried everything I could to fix the problem and found only one solution that seems to work:

When I get the CPU INIT error, I press and hold my CLR CMOS button for 30 Seconds and have to wait 2 hours (so that CMOS clears apparently), then press it again and power up the machine. Sometimes I have to press CLR CMOS, then the power sw up to 20 times before the machine boots.

What I have discovered through this method is that the mobo is ridiculously spontaneous. Starts when it wants to. Why is this? Is there some kind of magical "I'm gonna stuff you around" fairy in my case trying to tease me?

Okay, so next I flashed my BIOS to the latest version (0706 or 0704 or something) and tried again. First boot was successful, but when I tried booting again later - same problem CPU INIT.

I have set my latency's correctly (7-7-7-24) and Voltage to 1.9V (as per recommended by manufacturer.

Quite simply, the mobo works when it wants to, and sometimes just refuses to work at all.

Is there some kind of other update I need to use? Should I install a water cooling system to the fusion block? Is there a compatability issue with my hardware?

I don't need to know all the nitty gritty's like removing DIMMS to successfully boot, because I can get the machine to boot - just not all the time. I'm trying to figure out how to get the machine to boot 100% of the time and lose my fear of ever turning it off!

If anyone has a similiar setup, could you post your BIOS settings to compare - because I'm still a bit of a n00b and can't figure out what it is I'm doing wrong.

Also with the above configuration - what would be the best settings for FSB CPU FREQ and RAM latencies etc to achieve best results?

BUMP!

Anyone got any ideas? Come on!

Setting your latencies correctly as per manufacturer doesn't guarantee that the bios will like them. I suggest setting the bios to defualt settings with no CPU overclock and then set the memory timings to auto and see if you still get the CPU INIT error.
Post back and let me know how you go.

Yeah, everything AUTO, no joy. I've scrounged through more forums and found so many people to have had the same problem. Apparently some of them have built a machine that successfully POSTs after the second or third RMA of this model board :-(

Tsk tsk tsk ASUS.
