Looking in the bios the drive heads, cylinders, and sector are listed wrong for the drive. I am trying to decypher the ASUS and Maxtor/Segate web site for more info. Any help is appricated.

You may need to reinstall windows (format). But first try booting up in safe mode by pressing the f5 or f8 key after posting just before you get the blue screen. Then install the motherboard drivers off the cd.

O1die, thanks for the response. fromatting my hdd is out of the question, it has my OS and all of my data on it. I can boot to safe mode with F8 and to the comd prmpt, (C:\). Is this where I should try and load the mobo drivers.

O.K. I just tried two more hdd, and the mobo bios see each of them correctly (the name and size is right), but they will not boot up windows 2k. The heads, cylinders, and sectors numbers are all wrong. This is why I think I am missing one little peice of the puzzle. I will try the JDMicron drivers that came with the mobo and see what happen. If anyone else has any ideas, please share them with me, Thanks.

I found my blue screen code in microsoft kb, and my IDE hdd will not boot because of the win 2k driver and the new chipset drivers incompatability. This is a common problems according to them, which requires a format and re-install of win. Now I have to take the new mobo out and put the old in and move my data to DVD, this really suck at this point. I guess all new mobo needs SATA hdd with a clean install of the OS. (This Was Suppose To Be An Upgrade) Hope this help some of you out there with the same. problem.
