More Information

I was wondering if any of you can critique and review my build before I buy it. I was building this for a friend and it came out to about 806 dollars after shipping and tax. If there are better parts for the value please let me know before I make the purchase. Thanks in advance.

ditch the 9600gt. this is a much better card and its only like ten dollers more. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814121217

and do you really need two dvd drives?

this ram is just as good if not better and its cheaper. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820227231

other than that every thing is ok. i would suggest getting the seagate 7200.11 hard drive but no big deal if you cant afford it.

I agree with ilovebarny, ditch the 9600gt and go for the HD3870 or spend $50.00 more and get the HD4850 for a boast in performance.
I would avoid a nvidia based video card because they're plagued with driver problems inside of VISTA.
Also, I would avoid the SONY DVD because they're over rated. I would get a Lite-on 20X DVD. I have had the same 16X lite-on DVD for over two years now with no problems and no coasters.
Don't buy that Zalman CPU cool, it's a piece of sh#t and you're just wasting your money.
My 2.4GHz Opteron idles at 92 degrees Fahrenheit with the Opteron stock cooler.
With the Zalman cooler, it idles at 95.9 Fahrenheit with an extra 80mm outside fan blowing directly on the top of the fins. If I didn't have the extra fan it would idle at 107 degrees.
I would get the very popular Freeze CPU Cooler instead. It's a lot cheaper and does a better job.

Ummmm......
Your doing it wrong.
There is nothing wrong with the Zalmin coolers other than the price.
I would recommend the AC Frezer 7 for $26.99.
It should give you better performance with a lower price tag.

Ditch the 9600GT and get a 4850 for as low as $169.99.
Way more power than the 9600GT especially if you turn the filters up.
8x AA is almost free in most situations now.

If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce today would cost $100, get a million miles to the gallon, and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.
